A 19-year-old housewife, Blessing Bisala, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by the Abuja Magistrate Court for cheating on her husband.
Blessing Bisala who had 'unlawful' sexual relationship with her 34-year-old lover was declared guilty after she pleaded guilty to the charge of adultery, for which she was arraigned by the police, while the lover pleaded not guilty.
She said: "My Lord, I am guilty of cheating on my husband. I want the court to pardon me."
According to the Magistrate Fati Tafida "Based on the admittance of the accused to committing the crime, and the evidence before the court, she is, hereby, sentenced to three months in prison, with an option of N1,000 fine, as a first offender."
The police prosecutor, Insp. Phillip Appolos, said earlier that the husband, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station on September 1.
He alleged that the convict's husband caught her in the act in a guest house in Life Camp, Abuja and immediately alerted a police patrol team attached to Life Camp Division.
The two lovers were arrested and brought to the police station by Inspector Abdul Ogbe.
Appolos said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 387 and 388 of the Penal Code.
The convict's lover was granted a bail of N100,00 with a reliable surety and Magistrate Tafida adjourned the case to September 23, to enable the court continue with the trial of the lover.
