IMO POLICE ARREST ILLEGAL UNIVERSITY OPERATOR

The Police Command of Imo state has announced the arrest of 53-year-old man, Mr. Fidelis Chukwujindu for allegedly defrauding over 500 young boys and girls seeking admission tertiary institution.

The suspect has reportedly floated an illegal and non-existing university college hospital in Ogboko, which he claimed was an affiliation of a university in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Mohammed Katsina, the Police Commissioner of Imo state, met the journalists at the premises of the non-existing university college hospital

Mr. Mohammed Katsina told the newsmen the suspect was arrested by the intelligence unit of the command at the school premises when he was conducting fake entrance examination for over 100 students who purchased the admission forms at the sum of N8,000 each.

The suspect pretended to be both founder and vice chancellor of the non-existing institution.

Mr. Chukwujindu defrauded young secondary school leavers, who really needed to get admission into tertiary institution for continuation of their education and study the course of their choice.

Mr. Chukwujindu's cover was blown, when the Imo state police command got wind of the information and stormed the premises while conducting fake entrance examination for the first batch of students who already paid the sum of N8,000 each for the admission forms and examination fees.

The Police Commissioner of Imo state expressed disappointment over the incident, stating that the future of young people who are desperately in pursuit of their educational career is being toiled with.

He also promised that Mr. Chukwujindu will be charged to court for further prosecution, after further investigations.

However, the suspect, Mr. Chukwujindu, denied the accusations, said he is a trained medical practitioner and that the institution he heads has been registered with the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja. He added that academic operations have not commenced due to setbacks.
