The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) on Thursday warned against imminent flooding in Osun.
Mr Julius Adenle, a Meteorological Inspector with the agency in Ido-Osun, gave the warning in Iragbiji at a community awareness exercise.
Adenle recalled that the first batch of the rains came in June and July with a break in August , adding that the next two batches from September to October would be heavy.
To save lives and property, Adenle warned residents of the state against dumping refuse indiscriminately, especially in rivers and water channels.
He said flooding could cause disruption of socio-economic activities as well as outbreak of epidemics.
According to him, if residents obey the rules and regulations of the agency by keeping their environment clean, they would spend little on medical bills.
Responding, a community leader, Chief Muraina Oyelami, said the community would renew its commitment to healthy living.
The event was organised by the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency.
