8 DEAD,OTHERS INJURED AS HERDSMEN ATTACK SOUTHERN KADUNA

Armed herdsmen have killed eight persons in the troubled southern Kaduna area of Kaduna State. This was confirmed by a Nigerian security operative stationed in the area.

The source said the gunmen stormed Addu village in Kaura local government in the early hours of today and carried out a surprise and gruesome attack.

He also said, the location of the attack was near the new Jos-Manchok expressway, adding that news of the attack had created panic and heavy traffic in the area.

"Security agents are now in the village and the eight corpses have been assembled before us. Those injured have been rushed to hospital by officials of the local government."

It was gathered that Addu village is mostly inhabited by members of the Attakar ethnic group who are found in Kaura local government of Kaduna State as well as Riyom in neighboring Plateau State. There have been sporadic waves of violence between members of the community and herdsmen.
