TRAGIC:FOUR KILLED,ONE INJURED IN EBONYI AUTO CRASH

The car crash involving Mazda Infinity car and Mercedes truck left four people dead and one critically injured. The tragedy happened on Amuzo Onueke road in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, on September 4, 2013.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) commandant for Ebonyi state, Mr. Jide Fehintola, gave first details of the accident.

The Mazda Infinity car was heading to Onueke with five passengers from Abakaliki when one of its tyres ruptured. As the driver tried to gain control of the vehicle having a burst tyre, but it collided with an oncoming truck, killing four persons and leaving one in a critical condition.

Mr. Jide Fehintola reported that the deceased were taken to mortuary of the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA. The only survivor is in critical condition, being treated in the same hospital.

The FRSC official said: "The casualties were three men and a female and it was in the process of taking them to the hospital, that the army informed our team about the incident. We had to follow them to the mortuary."

He also recommended the road users to avoid over speeding to ensure the safety of lives and property of travellers.
